About Course

The Foundation of Ayurveda refers to the basic principles and ancient wisdom that form the core of this traditional system of medicine. Rooted in the Vedic texts of India, Ayurveda is a holistic science that emphasizes balance in body, mind, and spirit.

Key Concepts:

  1. Panchamahabhuta – Everything in the universe, including the human body, is made up of five elements: Earth (Prithvi), Water (Apas), Fire (Tejas), Air (Vayu), and Space (Akasha).

  2. Tridosha Theory – The three biological energies or doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – govern all bodily functions. Health is achieved when these doshas are in balance.

  3. Dhatus and Malas – The body is supported by seven tissues (Dhatus) and eliminates waste through three main excretory products (Malas).

  4. Agni (Digestive Fire) – The strength of digestion and metabolism, known as Agni, plays a vital role in health and disease.

  5. Prakriti (Body Constitution) – Every individual has a unique body constitution based on doshic dominance, which guides their lifestyle and treatment.

  6. Swasthya (Health) – Ayurveda defines health as a state of equilibrium in doshas, proper functioning of Agni and dhatus, elimination of waste, and a contented mind and soul.

Objective:

The goal of Ayurveda is to maintain health in the healthy and treat diseases in the sick using diet, lifestyle, herbs, detoxification (like Panchakarma), and rejuvenation therapies.

This foundational knowledge is essential for anyone beginning their journey in Ayurveda, whether for personal wellness or professional practice.
